On November 12-13, 2024, TREEADS project partner Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (OVGU) participated in the Wildfire 2024 UK Wildfire Conference held in Aberdeen, Scotland. This prestigious international event attracted over 250 attendees, including representatives from the scientific community, industry leaders, and national authorities.

OVGU researchers Kira Piechnik, Lukas Heydick, and Andrea Klippel presented their work on “Comprehensive Study on Ground and Underground Smouldering Forest Fires – Combustion Processes and Smoke Gas Emissions” through a poster session. This research, focusing on the German pilot within TREEADS, highlights critical advancements in understanding combustion processes and their environmental impacts.

The conference provided an excellent platform to disseminate TREEADS’ innovative approaches to holistic fire management while fostering connections with international stakeholders. Approximately 50 participants engaged directly with OVGU’s presentation, sparking insightful discussions on tackling wildfire-related challenges globally.

The TREEADS project is proud to showcase its contributions to advancing wildfire research and looks forward to further collaborations with the international community.
