Webinar Announcement: A Deep Dive into TREEADS Technologies for Restoration and Adaptation

Loading Events

Join us for the first webinar in the series: “TREEADS Technologies for Wildfire Resilience”.

The TREEADS project is pleased to invite you to the first webinar in our series aimed at showcasing cutting-edge technologies and solutions developed to address wildfire challenges. The webinar will take place on December 5th, 2024, at 13:00 CET via Webex. The webinar is free, but registration is required. This session will highlight three innovative solutions for post-wildfire restoration and adaptation, demonstrating the potential of TREEADS technologies to enhance ecosystem recovery and resilience. You may register here: https://forms.gle/c8pk2wbP2Rf6Em399

Webinar Agenda

  • Introduction to TREEADS and the Knowledge Marketplace Repository (KMR) (5 min)

Presented by Maria Pantazidou (INNOV-ACTS LIMITED)

  • Solution 1: Seed Container Capsules (SCC) (15 min)

An innovative capsule made from biodegradable biopolymer that contains a special preparation from soil, seeds and microbiota enhancement to maximize the germination rate. The main feature of the capsule is the protection against external conditions like animal predation, rain washout or dry weather, and is ready for UAV launching.

Presented by Victor Macadar (GLOBAL BIODESIGN SCOMM)

  • Solution 2: Enhanced Seedball/SCC Content Production (15 min)

Seedballs and Seed Container Capsules (SCC) containing local tree seeds with added microorganism-based products to boost health and growth in the initial stages of seedlings’ life. Through innovative techniques and methodologies, we can expect enhanced emergence and robust vegetation growth in fire-affected areas. This advancement signifies a pivotal step forward in the restoration and regeneration of ecosystems.

Presented by Vaida Sirgedaitė-Šėžienė and Dorotėja Vaitiekūnaitė (LIETUVOS AGRARINIU IR MISKU MOKSLU CENTRAS)

  • Solution 3: Bioclip Release Principles (15 min)

The Bioclip is an innovative and patented capsule designed for enhanced biocontrol and release of beneficial insects. Especially after wildfires when the natural wildlife is significantly decreased. In order to support natural regeneration, the Bioclip can be used to specifically reintroduce selected beneficial organisms. As post wildfire conditions do not provide the needed natural spots for fixation (i.e. branches) the Bioclip adaptation helps to mimique natural conditions in order to make the release with the Bioclip successful and support its functionalities.

Presented by Victor Macadar (GLOBAL BIODESIGN SCOMM)

  • Q&A Session (10 min)

Who Should Attend?

This webinar is ideal for:

  • Environmental scientists and researchers
  • Wildfire management professionals
  • Policymakers and public authorities
  • NGOs and community stakeholders
  • Anyone interested in innovative wildfire restoration solutions
