On December 13, 2024, TREEADS project researchers presented Seedball and Seed Container Capsule (SCC) technology during a scientific seminar titled Managing Ecosystems for a Sustainable Tomorrow held at the Lithuanian Research Center for Agriculture and Forestry (LAMMC).
These groundbreaking technologies, created during the Horizon2020 TREEADS project, are designed to address rapid reforestation challenges following fire damage. Seedballs and SCCs combine soil, tree seeds, and microorganism-based growth stimulators, offering a scalable solution for reforestation in large burned-out areas or locations with limited accessibility, such as mountain slopes.
Deployed via UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), this method ensures precision and adaptability, allowing the planting of forests, bushes, or grasses tailored to any location. These innovations represent a significant step forward in ecological recovery and resilience.
