Webinar Announcement: Enhancing Wildfire Resilience through TREEADS Detection and Response Innovations
Join us for the third webinar in the series: “TREEADS Technologies for Wildfire Resilience”. Find the recordings of previous webinars HERE.
The TREEADS project is pleased to invite you to the third webinar in our series aimed at showcasing cutting-edge technologies and solutions developed to address wildfire challenges. The webinar will take place on February 27th, 2025, at 14:00 pm CET via Webex. The webinar is free, but registration is required. This session will highlight three innovative detection and response solutions designed to enhance wildfire preparedness, monitoring, and emergency decision-making. From interactive mapping tools to advanced fire detection frameworks and real-time decision support systems, these TREEADS solutions demonstrate the power of data-driven solutions in improving wildfire resilience and response effectiveness.
Webinar Agenda
- Introduction to TREEADS and the Knowledge Marketplace Repository (KMR) (5 min)
Presented by Maria Pantazidou (INNOV-ACTS LIMITED)
- Solution 1: Map service based on OpenStreetMap (15 min)
A flexible, interactive, and dynamic mapping tool based on OpenStreetMap (OSM) database that offers information and suggestions to individuals and authorities related to wildfires prevention, detection, and restoration.
Presented by Athanasios Bantsos (Engineers for Business – EFB)
- Solution 2: Framework of Resilient Context-aware Detection of Emerging Fire-related Situations (15 min)
The TREEADS Event-Driven and Context-Aware Fire Detector (EDSD) enhances wildfire management by integrating real-time data from meteorological stations, sensors, satellites, and AI-analysed UAV images. It continuously assesses fire risks, compares conditions with meteorological models, and predicts fire propagation and crowd dynamics. Using contextual cues, analytics algorithms trigger fire response workflows, engaging local authorities, firefighters, and environmental experts. Detected hazards, including endangered animals or vehicles, are relayed through dashboards, mobile apps, AR-enabled helmets, or text alerts. EDSD operates alongside the TREEADS Workflow Response Engine (WRE) to streamline crisis response, improve stakeholder collaboration, and support proactive wildfire management.
Presented by Angela – Maria Despotopoulou (Frontier Innovations – FI)
- Solution 3: Wildfire Response Engine (WRE) decision support tool (15 min)
The TREEADS Wildfire Response Engine (WRE) enhances wildfire management by integrating real-time data from meteorological stations, sensors, satellites, and AI-analysed UAV images through its companion, the TREEADS Event-Driven and Context-Aware Fire Detector (EDSD). It continuously monitors fire conditions, compares them with meteorological models, and predicts fire propagation and crowd movement. A preconfigured Rule Engine, developed with domain experts, automates fire response workflows based on predefined event patterns and similarity metrics. This ensures rapid, context-aware decision-making, engaging key stakeholders like local authorities, firefighters, and environmental experts. Detected hazards, including endangered animals or vehicles, are relayed via dashboards, mobile apps, AR-enabled helmets, or text alerts, streamlining crisis management with precision and efficiency.
Presented by Angela – Maria Despotopoulou (Frontier Innovations – FI)
- Q&A Session (10 min)
