The TREEADS project proudly participated in the Arctic Emergency Management Conference held in Bodø, Norway, from March 18–20, 2025. The event brought together experts, researchers, and key stakeholders to address emerging challenges and risks related to emergency and wildfire management in the Arctic region.
As part of the conference, TREEADS partners presented two contributions highly relevant to the project’s objectives and the Norwegian pilot under Work Package 8 (WP8, Task 8.2):
Poster Presentation
“Mitigating the Negative Wildfire Impact of Societal Trends and Land-Use Legacies”
Main Author: Johan Sjöström (RISE Research Institutes of Sweden)
Co-authors: Ragni Fjellgaard Mikalsen, Ellen Synnøve Skilbred, and others
DOI: 10.13140/RG.2.2.13851.58401
Poster and Oral Presentation
“Wildfire Prevention in Scandinavia – Recommendations for the Future”
Main Author: Johan Sjöström (RISE)
Co-authors include partners from TREEADS (FRN, Jotne), FIRE-RES (NIBIO), and FirEUrisk (RISE Sweden)
DOI: 10.13140/RG.2.2.20562.47046
These presentations were part of a collaborative effort with the FIRE-RES and FirEUrisk projects, demonstrating synergies and a shared commitment to addressing wildfire risks through holistic and data-driven approaches.
The audience included members of the scientific community, industry partners, stakeholders, and national authorities from across the Arctic region (including Scandinavia, Canada, the US, and Russia), with approximately 120 attendees participating in person and online.
We received very positive feedback on the TREEADS contributions, and new collaborative opportunities are now being explored with several actors met during the conference.
