On May 8th, 2025, the city of Ávila, in the region of Castilla y León, Spain, hosted the Spanish Pilot Final Event of the TREEADS project under the theme:
“Leading Technological Innovation Against Environmental Disasters: Advanced Strategies for the Prevention, Detection and Restoration of Wildfires.”
The event brought together key national and regional stakeholders, scientific experts, technology providers, and media representatives to review the wildfire situation in Spain and present the impactful results of the TREEADS project. Special focus was given to the outcomes developed and tested in the Spanish pilot across the entire wildfire management lifecycle—from prevention and preparedness to real-time response and ecosystem restoration.
Throughout the day, attendees were introduced to an array of innovative tools, including UAV-based monitoring systems, 3D mapping technologies, and AI-powered risk analysis dashboards. The TREEADS partners provided live demonstrations and discussed the technical progress made through Work Packages 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, and 10.
The event concluded with an interactive roundtable session, where participants from institutions, forestry agencies, and technology partners engaged in open dialogue about the applicability and future of the tools developed. Notably, several national and regional authorities expressed their interest in continuing collaboration beyond the project’s lifetime.
