From October 8th to 10th, 2024, the Disaster Research Days took place at the Austrian National Library in Vienna. This prestigious event brought together key stakeholders in disaster risk reduction, co-organized by the Community of European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS), the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction’s European Science and Technology Advisory Group (E-STAG), and the Disaster Competence Network Austria. It was co-hosted by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research, and Education.
Representing the TREEADS project, Veronika Simanko, Birgit Schilcher, Carla Bräuer, and Sarah Kainz from JOAFG actively participated in the event, focusing on networking and spreading TREEADS’ vision for disaster resilience. Their involvement aligned with the goals of WP10, Task 10.2, which emphasizes outreach and dissemination activities. By attending this event, the TREEADS representatives engaged with a diverse audience, including the scientific community, industry and technology partners, stakeholders, national authorities, and media representatives. With approximately 200 participants in attendance, the event offered significant opportunities to showcase TREEADS’ work and expand its network of collaborations.
The event underscored TREEADS’ commitment to addressing critical challenges in disaster risk reduction and strengthening ties with key actors in the field. While no formal feedback was recorded, the networking activities highlighted TREEADS’ relevance and potential contributions to ongoing efforts in disaster resilience. This participation reflects TREEADS’ dedication to disseminating its objectives and building lasting partnerships to enhance impact at both national and international levels.
