Join us for the second webinar in the series: “TREEADS Technologies for Wildfire Resilience”.
The TREEADS project is pleased to invite you to the second webinar in our series aimed at showcasing cutting-edge technologies and solutions developed to address wildfire challenges. The webinar will take place on January 20th, 2025, at 09:00 am CET via Webex. The webinar is free, but registration is required. This session will highlight three advanced AI and machine learning solutions that enhance wildfire detection, monitoring, and mission planning, demonstrating the transformative potential of TREEADS technologies in wildfire resilience. Webinar Agenda
- Introduction to TREEADS and the Knowledge Marketplace Repository (KMR) (5 min)
Presented by Maria Pantazidou (INNOV-ACTS LIMITED)
- Solution 1: Social Media Analysis framework (15 min)
The Social Media Analysis (SMA) framework is designed to systematically collect, filter, and analyze real-time information from various social media platforms for early wildfire detection and monitoring. Specialized crawlers collect multilingual fire-related posts from social media platforms, whereas advanced analysis services process collected posts, extracting geolocating information, visual concepts from attached images and sentiment from the text. Using the aggregated information and applying spatiotemporal analysis, the framework identifies potential wildfire incidents, triggering relevant alerts.
Presented by Manos Michail (Centre for Research and Technology Hellas – CERTH) & Alex Karvounis (SQUAREDEV)
- Solution 2: Artificial intelligent Soil assessment, Agroforestry and Soil Enhancements and automation (15 min)
An Artificial Intelligence (AI) model for soil quality assessment by gathering indicators, essential to evaluate the effects of wildfires on soil health, to propose appropriate agroforestry restoration strategies.
Presented by Stelios Manoudakis (Technical University of Crete – TUC)
- Solution 3: Artificial Intelligence for mission planning (15 min)
The AI-Enhanced UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Mission Planning Module is a cutting-edge software component designed to optimize and streamline the planning and execution of UAV missions. Leveraging the power of artificial intelligence, and developed upon the well established DARP (Divide Areas Algorithm for Optimal Multi-Robot Coverage Path Planning) algorithm, this module enhances the capabilities of UAV operators and offers significant advantages in terms of efficiency, safety, and adaptability.
Presented by Dimitrios Koutras (Centre for Research and Technology Hellas – CERTH)
- Q&A Session (10 min)
Who Should Attend?
This webinar is ideal for:
- Data scientists and AI researchers
- Wildfire management professionals and emergency responders
- Policymakers and public authorities
- Technology developers and innovators
- Anyone interested in leveraging AI and machine learning for wildfire challenges
