On May 15, 2025, TREEADS expanded its educational outreach with a dedicated online guest lecture for graduate students at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in the United States.
The session, titled “Wildfires and TREEADS”, was presented by Kemal S. Arsava (FRN) and introduced students to the TREEADS project—its purpose, technological framework, and its role in shaping a more resilient wildfire management ecosystem in Europe and beyond.
The presentation covered:
-
The challenges of wildfire prevention, detection, and post-event restoration.
-
TREEADS’s integrated approach involving advanced sensors, AI-driven platforms, and landscape recovery.
-
Case studies and real-world applications drawn from the project’s pilot activities.
With a focused audience of around 20 students from scientific and technical backgrounds, the session aimed to raise awareness among emerging professionals about the complexities of wildfire risk and the EU’s leadership in managing it through collaborative research and innovation.
Although primarily educational, this event reinforced TREEADS’s commitment to international knowledge transfer and capacity building within the wildfire management domain.
