From September 6th to 8th, 2024, the Wiener Feuerwehrfest took place at “Am Hof” in Vienna. Organized by the city’s fire brigade, this popular event celebrated the vital role of firefighters while engaging the public in safety and emergency preparedness activities. As part of the festivities, the Johanniter hosted a booth highlighting topics such as first aid and ongoing research at JOAFG.
A key feature of the booth was the presentation of the TREEADS Wildfire Game and a dedicated educational folder for children. Through the interactive Wildfire Game, young visitors learned about essential aspects of wildfire prevention and management. Topics included how to prevent wildfires, detect them early, protect people and animals, combat fires effectively, support emergency services in their training efforts, and help forests recover after a fire. The activities were tailored to be fun and accessible, ensuring that even the youngest participants could grasp the importance of wildfire resilience while learning about the TREEADS project in simple language.
This activity contributed directly to WP10, Task 10.2, focusing on outreach and dissemination efforts for TREEADS. By engaging with the public at a widely attended event, the Johanniter team succeeded in raising awareness about wildfire challenges and the innovative solutions TREEADS is developing.
The event provided a valuable platform for TREEADS to connect with a broad audience and emphasize the importance of collective efforts in disaster resilience. While no formal feedback was received, the engagement at the booth demonstrated TREEADS’ commitment to inspiring communities and fostering awareness through education and interaction.
Stay tuned for more updates on how TREEADS continues to connect with diverse audiences and share its vision for a safer future.
