On 26 November 2022, a wildfire started in Roan at the coast of the Trøndelag region in Norway. The fire spread in heather, grass and shrubbery and a lot of firefighting effort was put into eliminating it. A helicopter was also involved in the response.
Kemal Sarp Arsava and Ragni Fjellgaard Mikalsen from RISE Fire Research AS organized a post-wildfire site visit to the burned area on the 2nd of December, 2022. The aims of the visit were to gain more knowledge on Norway’s coastal wildfires, to meet with the local fire and rescue services and learn how they utilized drones during the incident. The fire brigade was also monitoring hotspots using thermal imaging cameras.
Many thanks to RISE Fire Research AS, the coordinator of TREEADS, for organizing this vital post-wildfire site visit in the advancement of TREEADS ecosystem.
