Detection and response will be based on fire detection in very short time, having very low false alarm ratio. Low altitude drones will monitor the area, heavy payload UAVs will be used as fire retardant bombers, while airship will cover a very large area in real time and will be used also as a communications tower. TREEADS computational system will be able to simulate fire and smoke propagation, evaluate air pollution, propose evacuation plans for citizens and animals (Greek use case, section 1.3.2.7) and offer a complete DSS for first responders. TREEADS also includes an AR/VR training system necessary for the training and development of firefighters’ skills.
Overview of relevant technologies

Hotspot detection
Computer vision and artificial vision capabilities to the cameras located in fixed or mobile, allowing to detect hotspots in real time or to provide dimensional analysis capabilities from single images or videos of the fire.

Forest fire spread simulation
Near real time simulation of wildfire with a simplified physical wildfire spread model. During the evolution of a forest fire, simulation can be used as a tool to support the complex process of decision-making, as well as to make an ex post analysis.

Wind field model
Numerical simulation of the wind for the numerical simulation of the spread of forest fires.

Atmospheric pollutants dispersion model
Forecasting simulation of fire smoke cloud dispersion.

Analysis of Fire Behavior and Spread for the Development of Safety Measures
Provides accuracy of numerical predictions as measured in bench and large scale experiments.

Resilient, event-driven, context-aware fire detection and decision support for response processes
This framework will provide: i) intelligent fire detection and monitoring capabilities; ii) automated mechanisms to support timely decisions to the identified situations that will reason about the appropriate reactions to the situations at hand.

Social media collection and analysis
This task concerns the collection and analysis of crowd sourced information, i.e. social media posts that are published by citizens and refer to fire incidents.

Interoperability Environment for Rescue and Logistics Processes using ISO standards
This module will open up existing systems by adopting information models based on open, international and public available standards.

Infrastructures fire emergency management strategy
This tool allows both to greatly reduce time of sizing, design and optimizing systems or safety procedures, and allows to obtain results much more effective than “classic” procedures.

AR helmet
The system will overlay data such as locations of individual firefighters for better coordination in situations of low visibility, real-time temperature readings via embedded helmet sensors, real-time command visualization from the center of operations, map view of the area with the location of each firefighter and fire fighting vehicle overlayed etc..

5G Portable Communication System (PCS)
The aim is to deploy the necessary wireless network infrastructure and establish the telecommunication ecosystem between UxVs, and Firefighters at 5G (next-generation) performance level.

X/BELLO instant messaging
X / BELLO is a VoIP and instant messaging (IM) application that supports voice chat, real-time video calling, and multimedia sending over the Internet. It will also support secure integration of innovative multimedia applications with smart devices and sensors, AR devices, smart watches and flexible displays.
