SUMMARY:Webinar Announcement: Advancing Wildfire Management with TREEADS Mapping Technologies
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the fourth webinar in the series: “TREEADS Technologies for Wildfire Resilience”. Find the recordings of previous webinars HERE.   \nThe TREEADS project is pleased to invite you to the fourth webinar in our series aimed at showcasing cutting-edge technologies and solutions developed to address wildfire challenges. The webinar will take place on April 1st\, 2025\, at 14:00 pm CEST via Webex. The webinar is free\, but registration is required. This session will highlight three advanced mapping technologies designed to enhance wildfire risk assessment\, monitoring\, and post-fire analysis. From high-resolution forest mapping and rapid burnt-area assessment to territorial risk evaluation\, these TREEADS solutions demonstrate the power of geospatial intelligence in improving wildfire preparedness\, response\, and recovery. You may register here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/advancing-wildfire-management-with-treeads-mapping-technologies-tickets-1295981368159?aff=oddtdtcreator   \nWebinar Agenda  \n\nIntroduction to TREEADS and the Knowledge Marketplace Repository (KMR) (5 min) \n\nPresented by Maria Pantazidou (INNOV-ACTS LIMITED)  \n\nSolution 1: Detailed Forest Mapping tool (15 min) \n\nTREEADS Detailed Forest Mapping tool (FORESTMAP)\, is a solution that takes advantage of three-dimensional reconstruction using satellite or low-cost photogrammetry together with data coming from drones and LiDAR systems\, offering a complete product in forest areas. This product identifies what is land and vegetation by determining the different heights\, in order to evaluate possible fire hazards. As a result\, FORESTMAP generates a forest inventory with all the parameters required.  \nPresented by Diego González Aguilera (Universidad de Salamanca – USAL)   \n\nSolution 2: Platform for high-resolution rapid assessment of burnt areas (15 min) \n\nA platform offering a dedicated solution for high-resolution and swift evaluation of burnt areas. Unveiling a comprehensive system\, it provides rapid assessments post-fire incidents. It is specifically designed to streamline the analysis of affected areas\, ensuring a quick and accurate response to assess the magnitude of the impact. The platform’s capabilities extend beyond standard assessments\, offering a dynamic tool for efficient and high-resolution analysis.  \nPresented by Souzana Touloumtzi (Ethniko Asteroskopeio Athinon – NOA)  \n\nSolution 3: Territorial assessment tool (15 min) \n\nA service based on Copernicus data aiming at identifying the baseline of main vulnerabilities and threats in a specific territory to estimate the associate risk and visualize the collected and calculated information.   \nPresented by Cristina Parrado Núñez (Fundacion CARTIF)  \n\nQ&A Session (10 min) \n\n  \nWho Should Attend?  \nThis webinar is ideal for:  \n\nGIS and remote sensing specialists \n\n\nWildfire management authorities and emergency responders \n\n\nEnvironmental scientists and forestry experts \n\n\nPolicymakers and public authorities \n\n\nTechnology developers and AI researchers in geospatial analysis \n\n\nNGOs and community stakeholders focused on disaster resilience \n\n\nAnyone interested in innovative mapping solutions for wildfire management \n\n  \nAbout TREEADS Knowledge Marketplace Repository (KMR)  \nThe KMR is a comprehensive platform developed by TREEADS to promote\, disseminate\, and commercialize solutions for wildfire prevention\, preparedness\, detection\, and restoration. It serves as a resource hub\, sales channel\, and training center for wildfire technologies and knowledge. Learn more about TREEADS KMR and register here: https://knowledge-hub.treeads-project.eu/?page_id=1548   \nRegister now to reserve your spot and be part of the wildfire resilience movement! https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/advancing-wildfire-management-with-treeads-mapping-technologies-tickets-1295981368159?aff=oddtdtcreator   \nThis webinar is part of the TREEADS project that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101036926.

SUMMARY:TREEADS at EGU 2025: Presenting Next-Gen Tools for Wildfire Crisis Management
DESCRIPTION:The TREEADS project was proudly represented at the prestigious European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2025\, held in Vienna from April 27 to May 2\, 2025. This globally recognized forum gathers experts in geosciences and Earth observation\, offering an exceptional platform to share scientific and technological advances in environmental management. \nOn April 30\, Angela-Maria Despotopoulou from Frontier Innovations delivered an oral presentation on behalf of TREEADS partners Frontier Innovations (FI)\, the Technical University of Crete (TUC)\, STRESS S.c.a.r.l.\, and Engineers for Business S.A. (EFB). The presentation\, titled “Leveraging Mapping Tools and Analytics for Advanced Wildfire Detection and Crisis Management”\, highlighted a modular\, event-driven software platform designed to improve wildfire response and situational awareness. \nThe showcased work integrates real-time data fusion\, predictive analytics\, and user-centered design. By combining data from satellites\, environmental sensors\, and AI-enabled drones\, the platform generates actionable insights to support emergency services. Key features include: \n\nMulti-source data integration\nPredictive modeling of fire behavior\nResource optimization for response teams\nMulti-channel alerts (dashboards\, mobile\, AR\, SMS)\n\nDeveloped and validated in the field with input from firefighters\, engineers\, public agencies\, and conservationists\, this system was tested in real-world conditions during pilots in the Samaria Gorge (Crete) and the Sorrento Peninsula (Italy). The presentation sparked engaging discussions\, including a Q&A session with attendees from the Firelogue Cluster and beyond. Later the same day\, a second TREEADS-related presentation was delivered by USAL in another session. \nThis dissemination activity reflects the collaborative spirit and impact-driven innovation at the core of TREEADS. As the project approaches its final stages\, such events reinforce our commitment to delivering tools that enhance wildfire resilience across Europe and globally.
