SUMMARY:TREEADS at the Arctic Emergency Management Conference in Bodø\, Norway
DESCRIPTION:The TREEADS project proudly participated in the Arctic Emergency Management Conference held in Bodø\, Norway\, from March 18–20\, 2025. The event brought together experts\, researchers\, and key stakeholders to address emerging challenges and risks related to emergency and wildfire management in the Arctic region. \nAs part of the conference\, TREEADS partners presented two contributions highly relevant to the project’s objectives and the Norwegian pilot under Work Package 8 (WP8\, Task 8.2): \nPoster Presentation \n“Mitigating the Negative Wildfire Impact of Societal Trends and Land-Use Legacies”\nMain Author: Johan Sjöström (RISE Research Institutes of Sweden)\nCo-authors: Ragni Fjellgaard Mikalsen\, Ellen Synnøve Skilbred\, and others\nDOI: 10.13140/RG.2.2.13851.58401 \nPoster and Oral Presentation \n“Wildfire Prevention in Scandinavia – Recommendations for the Future”\nMain Author: Johan Sjöström (RISE)\nCo-authors include partners from TREEADS (FRN\, Jotne)\, FIRE-RES (NIBIO)\, and FirEUrisk (RISE Sweden)\nDOI: 10.13140/RG.2.2.20562.47046 \nThese presentations were part of a collaborative effort with the FIRE-RES and FirEUrisk projects\, demonstrating synergies and a shared commitment to addressing wildfire risks through holistic and data-driven approaches. \nThe audience included members of the scientific community\, industry partners\, stakeholders\, and national authorities from across the Arctic region (including Scandinavia\, Canada\, the US\, and Russia)\, with approximately 120 attendees participating in person and online. \nWe received very positive feedback on the TREEADS contributions\, and new collaborative opportunities are now being explored with several actors met during the conference. \nRelated social media posts: \n\nLinkedIn\nFacebook

SUMMARY:TREEADS Highlights Holistic Wildfire Management at Climate Change and Biodiversity Working Group
DESCRIPTION:On March 27\, 2025\, TREEADS was featured at the 7th Climate Change and Biodiversity Working Group Meeting\, organized by the Green Deal Projects Support Office (GDSO) and hosted online from Brussels. \nRepresenting the project\, Kemal S. Arsava (FRN) delivered a presentation titled “TREEADS: A Holistic Fire Management Ecosystem for Prevention\, Detection and Restoration of Environmental Disasters”\, showcasing how TREEADS integrates cutting-edge technology\, ecosystem recovery strategies\, and stakeholder engagement to tackle wildfire challenges from end to end. \nKey aspects of the presentation included: \n\n\nInnovative prevention and detection technologies \n\n\nReal-world pilot applications across Europe \n\n\nAI-driven decision support tools for forestry management \n\n\nRestoration methods adapted to post-fire ecological conditions \n\n\nWith an international audience of 40 experts from the scientific community\, environmental projects\, and industry partners\, TREEADS demonstrated its alignment with EU biodiversity and climate adaptation goals—highlighting the importance of transdisciplinary\, scalable solutions. \nThe event was part of a broader knowledge exchange initiative that supports Green Deal-funded projects and promotes collaboration among leading climate resilience actors. \nMaterials presented during the session are available via GDSO’s shared platform.
