SUMMARY:TREEADS at the 8th Mediterranean Forest Week
DESCRIPTION:The University of Girona took part in the 8th Mediterranean Forest Week in Barcelona from 4th to 8th November 2024. This event brought together experts\, policymakers and environmentalists from across the Mediterranean to discuss forest issues. This year’s event placed a special focus on forest restoration and resilience building\, examining these topics from scientific\, policy\, and operational perspectives.\n\nUdG presented two posters on the post-fire restoration planning\, featuring the TREEADS Post-fire Spatial Decision Support System. The two posters are titled:\n1. Post-fire restoration: application of a spatial decision support system to a large burned area\n2. TREEADS PF-SDSS: a web-based spatial decision support system for post-fire management\n\nThe poster presentations sparked engaging discussions among participants\, with many expressing strong interest\, posing insightful questions\, and showing enthusiasm for adapting the system for their geographical regions. This positive response underscores the TREEADS’ commitment to advancing innovative approaches in post-fire management planning.\nFollow us on LinkedIn and Twitter to stay up to date with project developments and latest news!

SUMMARY:TREEADS participated in Seedball technology for rapid post fire reforestation
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to share that TREEADS\, represented by LAMMC\, recently participated in the “New genomic techniques and digitisation in agriculture and forestry/Naujos genominės technologijos ir skaitmenizacija žemės ir miškų ūkyje” public educational event on February 8th\, 2024\, in Akademija\, Lithuania. \nMore than 200 participants\, including the scientific community\, industry/technology partners\, stakeholders\, national authorities\, and institutions had the opportunity to attend an insightful presentation of seedball technology highlighting a unique aspect of rapid reforestation post fire damage. \nThis groundbreaking method offers a comparatively rapid rehabilitation of fire-ravaged landscapes or regions with limited human accessibility\, such as mountain slopes\, restoring the delicate ecological balance within these areas. \nAs the host country for the event\, Lithuania demonstrates its commitment to addressing the challenges of post-fire reforestation and promoting sustainable practices. This collaboration symbolises the power of partnerships and the collective determination to safeguard our natural resources. \nFollow us on LinkedIn and Twitter to stay up to date with project developments and latest news!
