SUMMARY:Webinar: Igniting Awareness – Strategies for Wildfire Resilience and Readiness
DESCRIPTION:On July 3rd\, 2024\, TREEADS participated in the webinar “Igniting Awareness: Strategies for Wildfire Resilience and Readiness\,” hosted online from 14:00 to 16:00 CET. This event was part of the EU’s Mission Adaptation initiative\, bringing together wildfire resilience experts\, stakeholders\, and signatories. \nTREEADS showcased two key technologies aimed at improving wildfire response and recovery: \n\nSeedball Technology for Replanting: Presented by LAMMC\, Accelligence\, Global Biodesign\, and EAC Whisper\, this innovative solution uses drone technology to distribute seed capsules for reforestation\, making replanting efforts faster and more efficient.\n\n \n\nVirtual Reality for Firefighter Training: Presented by SIMAVI\, this cutting-edge VR tool offers immersive firefighter training to enhance preparedness and response capabilities in real-world wildfire scenarios.\n\n \nDuring the webinar\, Ragni Fjellgaard Mikalsen (TREEADS) led the presentation\, supported by Dorotėja Vaitiekūnaitė (LAMMC) and Razvan Purcarea (SIMAVI). With an audience of 61 attendees and a broader reach to 300 mission signatories\, TREEADS engaged participants through two Slido polls\, designed by CBS\, to gather insights on potential challenges in adopting these technologies. \nA series of key questions from the audience led to fruitful discussions and brainstorming sessions: \n\nHow do the costs of using drone-assisted replanting compare to traditional methods?\nCan the seedball technology be applied to all tree species\, or is it limited to specific ones?\nWhat is the financial backing for these technologies\, and do governmental agencies support them?\nBeyond the pilot phase\, will these solutions be scaled to other wildfire-exposed regions\, such as Greece and Spain?\n\nThe webinar sparked significant interest\, particularly regarding the financial aspects and scalability of TREEADS’ technologies\, emphasizing the growing importance of innovative solutions for wildfire resilience. \nFor more details\, you can access the event here:\nIgniting Awareness Webinar \nYou can also find the event recording here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDBTbvNeTJc \nFollow us on LinkedIn and Twitter to stay up to date with project developments and latest news!
