SUMMARY:Call for Papers: [Drones] (IF: 4.8\, ISSN: 2504-446X) - Special Issue "Drones for Wildfire and Prescribed Fire Science"
DESCRIPTION:Advancements in technology have accelerated the use of unmanned aircraft systems (UASs)/ drones\, for research and operations during wildland fires. Drones offer various benefits\, such as spotting potential flare-ups\, maintaining crew member awareness\, supporting firefighting efforts\, collecting meteorological data for plume dispersion calculations\, assessing vegetation before and after burns\, studying fire dynamics\, conducting spot ignitions\, and sampling emissions to assess smoke hazards. \nDrones’ flexibility\, portability\, night-time capability\, and real-time telemetry provide valuable information to incident responders\, aiding decision-making. The emergence of edge computation and 5G/6G networks enables instant in-flight analyses\, crucial for generating products that support fire management decisions during the response stage. \nThis Special Issue will welcome manuscripts that link the use of UAS to the following wildland fire themes: \n\nFirefighter safety\, management and control; Characterization of fire dynamics;\nPlume dispersion; Detailed forest mapping; Characterization of fire emissions;\nMeteorological measurements;\nDetection and tracking of elements (e.g.\, people\, animals\, vehicles\, etc.).\n\nSubmitted articles and review papers should focus on unmanned platforms\, specifically UASs\, along with related technologies and applications in wildland fire management. These submissions should cover topics related to the main steps in wildfires: prevention\, response\, and restoration. The primary requirement is that the papers contribute new and innovative insights\, methods\, or technologies to the field of UAS in wildland fire management. \nLearn more about the submission here. \nDownload the pdf \n\nFollow us on LinkedIn and Twitter to stay up to date with project developments and latest news!

SUMMARY:Stakeholders Workshop Event. SNA Workshop
DESCRIPTION:TREEADS has participated in the Stakeholders Workshop Event\, which focused on the Social Network Analysis (SNA) Workshop. This vital gathering was set to took place on October 31\, 2023\, at Pedro Bernardo Ávila and provided updates on the latest developments using wildfire technologies while collecting feedback from stakeholders. \nThe workshop brought together a diverse group of key stakeholders from the scientific community\, the industry\, and national authorities and institutions. This collaborative meeting provided an invaluable platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration. An attendance of 15-20 participants ensured an intimate and interactive environment that fostered meaningful discussions and idea exchanges. \nThe Stakeholders Workshop Event featured an array of online and oral presentations\, showcasing the cutting-edge advancements and insights in wildfire management and the TREEADS representers presented a presentation entitled “Jornada de actuaciones sobre incendios forestales: SNA Workshop”. \nWatch the vídeos of the Stakeholder´s- SNA workshop\, below: \n\nhttps://youtu.be/lCirCCz2_U4?si=6EwUJpuv4H2sni_c\nhttps://youtu.be/XuKoJ2uj_aU?si=fLJF5oGahdTYA-lI\nhttps://youtu.be/vQRt8CuH1ds?si=6pG8srTu7D2AYnR3\nhttps://youtu.be/obg055e5uY8?si=8IHd54NsMhyxPLB5\nhttps://youtu.be/55jv9TPCnz8?si=0YScJ1QW34RNYidS\n\nFollow us on LinkedIn and Twitter to stay up to date with project developments and latest news!

SUMMARY:TREEADS in FAFCYLE Conference
DESCRIPTION:The TREEADS project participated in the Fafcyle Conference that took place on October 31st\, 2023. The presentation by TREEADS unveiled innovative strategies for fire prevention. \nThe initiative introduced two compelling stories\, aimed at different seasons\, each employing cutting-edge technologies to enhance preventive measures. \nDuring the summer months\, TREEADS strategically focuses on areas with the highest probability of wildfires. The project leverages advanced technologies including a system from the European Space Agency and drone integration to provide daily and municipal resolutions. \nDuring the colder months\, TREEADS uses satellite prioritization to identify areas in danger due to their proximity to populated regions. Pilots in TREEADS access satellite images\, empowering them to upload detailed drone information. The platform’s intelligent search automatically detects hotspots and columns of smoke\, providing a multidimensional view for effective decision-making. \nThe presentation at Fafcyle Conference showcased how these straightforward yet impactful methods can significantly contribute to keeping communities safe from wildfires. \nSee the video here: \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFZTyIdtgy4 \nFollow us on LinkedIn and Twitter to stay up to date with project developments and latest news!
