SUMMARY:Disaster Research Days: Spreading TREEADS' Message
DESCRIPTION:From October 8th to 10th\, 2024\, the Disaster Research Days took place at the Austrian National Library in Vienna. This prestigious event brought together key stakeholders in disaster risk reduction\, co-organized by the Community of European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS)\, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction’s European Science and Technology Advisory Group (E-STAG)\, and the Disaster Competence Network Austria. It was co-hosted by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science\, Research\, and Education. \nRepresenting the TREEADS project\, Veronika Simanko\, Birgit Schilcher\, Carla Bräuer\, and Sarah Kainz from JOAFG actively participated in the event\, focusing on networking and spreading TREEADS’ vision for disaster resilience. Their involvement aligned with the goals of WP10\, Task 10.2\, which emphasizes outreach and dissemination activities. By attending this event\, the TREEADS representatives engaged with a diverse audience\, including the scientific community\, industry and technology partners\, stakeholders\, national authorities\, and media representatives. With approximately 200 participants in attendance\, the event offered significant opportunities to showcase TREEADS’ work and expand its network of collaborations. \nThe event underscored TREEADS’ commitment to addressing critical challenges in disaster risk reduction and strengthening ties with key actors in the field. While no formal feedback was recorded\, the networking activities highlighted TREEADS’ relevance and potential contributions to ongoing efforts in disaster resilience. This participation reflects TREEADS’ dedication to disseminating its objectives and building lasting partnerships to enhance impact at both national and international levels. DESCRIPTION:The TREEADS project proudly participated in the RISE-SD 2024 event\, held on October 16-17\, 2024\, in Chalkidiki\, Northern Greece. RISE-SD is a prominent European event focusing on Civil Protection and Defense\, bringing together more than 200 participants from across the EU to share ideas\, showcase technological innovations\, and participate in live demonstrations. \nAt our dedicated booth\, we presented the cutting-edge technological solutions of TREEADS through engaging flyers and videos. These materials highlighted our progress in tackling disaster and crisis management\, as well as our innovative contributions to building resilient societies. Additionally\, we had the opportunity to deliver a presentation that provided attendees with a comprehensive overview of the TREEADS project\, our current advancements\, and the innovative tools we’ve developed. \nRISE-SD 2024\, organized by CERTH\, BDI\, and Satways\, featured a wide array of topics that resonate with the core mission of TREEADS\, including Civil Protection\, resilient infrastructures\, and disaster-resilient societies. SUMMARY:TREEADS Drone technologies presentation at CPWG
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to share that the TREEADS project recently participated in a Civil Protection Working Group (CPWG) meeting\, led by the FIRELOUGE project. This collaborative event brought together industry experts\, firefighters\, forest owners\, and key stakeholders to explore innovative approaches to wildfire management\, with a particular focus on drone technologies and remote tools. \nHeld on October 18th\, the CPWG meeting provided an engaging platform to present ACCELIGENCE’s advancements in drone technology\, alongside our partner EAC-WHISPER\, within the framework of the TREEADS project. The presentations showcased the operational capabilities of ACCELI drones\, highlighting their technical specifications\, payload capacities\, and unique ROS integrations. More information was provided on the drones’ advanced remote sensing technologies\, embedded AI capabilities\, and data transmission and storage solutions\, essential for real-time wildfire monitoring and response. \nHighlights from ACCELIGENCE’s Presentation: \n– Technical Specifications: Details on autonomy\, payload\, weight\, and dimensions.\n– Operational Capabilities: Insights into deployment in rugged terrains and extreme weather conditions.\n– ROS (Robot Operating System): Overview of the open-source architecture used and integration of AI for enhanced operational efficiency.\n– Embedded Sensors: Focus on optronic and other high-precision sensors designed for early wildfire detection.\n– Data Management: Robust data transmission and storage solutions supporting real-time insights.\n– Field Trials: Results from trial tests and the technology’s current maturity level. \nOur involvement in the TREEADS project underscores our commitment to advancing the integration of drone technology for environmental protection.
