SUMMARY:TREEADS at EGU 2025: Presenting Next-Gen Tools for Wildfire Crisis Management
DESCRIPTION:The TREEADS project was proudly represented at the prestigious European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2025\, held in Vienna from April 27 to May 2\, 2025. This globally recognized forum gathers experts in geosciences and Earth observation\, offering an exceptional platform to share scientific and technological advances in environmental management. \nOn April 30\, Angela-Maria Despotopoulou from Frontier Innovations delivered an oral presentation on behalf of TREEADS partners Frontier Innovations (FI)\, the Technical University of Crete (TUC)\, STRESS S.c.a.r.l.\, and Engineers for Business S.A. (EFB). The presentation\, titled “Leveraging Mapping Tools and Analytics for Advanced Wildfire Detection and Crisis Management”\, highlighted a modular\, event-driven software platform designed to improve wildfire response and situational awareness. \nThe showcased work integrates real-time data fusion\, predictive analytics\, and user-centered design. By combining data from satellites\, environmental sensors\, and AI-enabled drones\, the platform generates actionable insights to support emergency services. Key features include: \n\nMulti-source data integration\nPredictive modeling of fire behavior\nResource optimization for response teams\nMulti-channel alerts (dashboards\, mobile\, AR\, SMS)\n\nDeveloped and validated in the field with input from firefighters\, engineers\, public agencies\, and conservationists\, this system was tested in real-world conditions during pilots in the Samaria Gorge (Crete) and the Sorrento Peninsula (Italy). The presentation sparked engaging discussions\, including a Q&A session with attendees from the Firelogue Cluster and beyond. Later the same day\, a second TREEADS-related presentation was delivered by USAL in another session. \nThis dissemination activity reflects the collaborative spirit and impact-driven innovation at the core of TREEADS. As the project approaches its final stages\, such events reinforce our commitment to delivering tools that enhance wildfire resilience across Europe and globally.

SUMMARY:TREEADS Wildfire Game Presented at Austria’s Prater Maifest
DESCRIPTION:On May 1st\, 2025\, TREEADS took part in Das Prater Maifest—one of Vienna’s largest public events\, attracting over 200\,000 visitors annually. Hosted within the broader celebrations\, the event featured engaging booths organized by Helfer Wiens\, showcasing emergency services and public safety initiatives. \nAs part of Work Package 10 (T10.2 – Outreach and Dissemination Activities)\, the JOAFG team introduced children and families to wildfire awareness through the interactive TREEADS Wildfire Game and a specially designed educational folder. While playing\, children learned about critical wildfire topics: prevention strategies\, early detection\, emergency response\, wildlife protection\, and post-fire recovery. The TREEADS project and its mission were explained in simple\, accessible language\, fostering awareness from an early age. \nThis initiative brought wildfire safety education to the general public in a fun and engaging way\, underscoring TREEADS’ commitment to inclusive and age-appropriate outreach. \nSpecial thanks to Veronika Simanko\, Birgit Schilcher\, Carla Bräuer\, and Sarah Kainz (JOAFG) for delivering this impactful activity.
